The Xifeng Section of the Sichuan-Guizhou Post Road

The Xifeng Section of the Sichuan-Guizhou Post Road is a cultural heritage site protected at the county level in Xifeng County.

The Xifeng Section of the Sichuan-Guizhou Post Road is located in Madangtian Village, Yongjing Town, and Yanglongsi Village, Yanglongsi Township, Xifeng County. It was announced as a county-level cultural heritage site in 2011. The better-preserved sections are the Dafengya Section and the Shizilu Section. The Dafengya Section is approximately 1 kilometer long, stretching from the side of the former Gui-Zun Expressway to Dafengya, distributed north-south along the mountain and paved with flagstones, about 1.5 meters wide. The Shizilu Section is located in the Shizilu Group of Yanglongsi Village, Yanglongsi Township, also distributed north-south along the mountain and paved with flagstones, about 1.5 meters wide. It got its name from originally being a crossroads and served as the intersection of the ancient Sichuan-Guizhou Post Road and the ancient road to Kaiyang during that period. In the early Qing Dynasty, the Sichuan-Guizhou Post Road was rerouted to pass through Sichuan, then via Zunyi and the Wujiang Ferry into Xifeng, leading to Zhazuo and on to Guiyang. By the late Qing Dynasty, the Xifeng Section of the Sichuan-Guizhou Post Road was widened into a proper road but was eventually abandoned with the development of modern highways. This remaining section holds certain significance for the study of the history of transportation development in Xifeng.

Madangtian Village: Located in the northern part of Xifeng County, Madangtian Village comprises 17 villager groups, with 915 households and a population of 2,915, including 28 ethnic minority members and 1,352 laborers. The village has 1,772.6 mu of arable land, including 406 mu of paddy fields and 1,366.4 mu of dry land, as well as 1,020 mu of forestland, averaging 0.61 mu per person. The Sichuan-Guizhou Railway, National Highway 210, and the Gui-Zun Expressway all run through the village, making transportation extremely convenient. The main focus of the village’s industrial structure is the planned development of walnut and vegetable cultivation.
