Longtan Water Town

Longtan Water Town is the largest supporting project of Chengdu Longtan Headquarters Economic City and the only distinctive district in downtown Chengdu built around live water resources. Following Jinli, Kuanzhai Alley, and Dongjiao Memory, it is another cultural tourism landmark created by Chengdu, hailed as the city’s “Along the River During the Qingming Festival.” It is the province’s only “Sichuan Wedding Culture Demonstration Base” and “Sichuan Specialty Dining Base,” and is currently applying to become the nation’s first “China Wedding Film & TV City.”

The entire park adheres to an architectural style of “great fusion,” characterized by a blend of Eastern and Western, as well as Northern and Southern elements. With Suzhou-style garden architecture as the main theme, it organically incorporates features of traditional western Sichuan residences. The overall architectural form not only highlights the delicate beauty of southern-style buildings but also draws on the grandeur and magnificence of northern-style structures, reflecting a unique charm of cultural integration.

Located at the core of Longtan Water Town, the Longtan Pavilion stands 31.8 meters tall and spans 21 meters. This five-story tower structure represents the essence of classical Chinese architectural culture. It is fully clad in copper—yellow copper tiles, purple copper forged windows, iron-blue railings, and stone walls—featuring ancient Yixing stones for the flooring and handcrafted corridors by renowned Suzhou artisans, making it truly distinctive.

Stepping into the water town, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to a Jiangnan water town: classic Chinese architecture, scenes of small bridges over flowing streams, the gentle sound of water, and moored black-canopied boats waiting to set off. The overall style of the water town takes unique Chengdu cultural elements as its foundation while transplanting the charm of Jiangnan water towns. Strolling through Longtan Water Town, the rich atmosphere of Jiangnan permeates the air. Visitors can also take a ride on a black-canopied boat along the river, enjoying a fairytale-like sense of tranquility.
