Chengdu Beihu Park

Beihu Park is situated in Longtan, Chenghua District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It has a planned area of 2.86 square kilometers, a water surface of nearly 1,000 mu, and green space of nearly 3,000 mu. The park combines water culture, bird culture, bamboo culture, and Hakka culture, making it the largest artificial lake and most picturesque ecological wetland in central Chengdu. It is also the core area of the 12-square-kilometer Beijiao Scenic Area, which serves as a public welfare forest demonstration site in Chengdu.

The Beihu lake area is divided into northern and southern sections. The northern section is a “quiet zone,” primarily dedicated to bird-watching activities, while the southern section is an “active zone,” mainly featuring water landscape displays and water-based recreational activities. Beihu is a scenic area with a unique bird culture. Currently, over 50 species of wild birds inhabit the three bird islands in the lake. It is expected that within 3 to 5 years, as the ecological environment of Beihu continues to improve, the number of wild bird species will increase to more than 150, making the title “Bird Village” increasingly well-deserved.

The “Huilu Islet” in Beihu is a paradise for birds. The Chengdu Plain, with its crisscrossing rivers, numerous lakes, dense forests, and mild climate, is particularly suitable for birds. In the future, Beihu will become the largest urban bird-watching center in western China. Bird enthusiasts in Chengdu have already made Beihu a must-visit destination for bird watching. In addition to bird watching, the koi fish display is another highlight here, featuring one of the largest koi ponds in Chengdu.
