The Main Hall of Beijiaopeng Dongyue Temple has an unknown date of construction. All other structures of the Dongyue Temple have been completely lost, leaving only the main hall standing. Beneath the purlin and beam there is an inscription from the 11th year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty (1638) noting its “reconstruction and relocation.” The hall is three bays wide and two bays deep, with a single-eave, hanging gable roof. Its roof is covered with gray pottery barrel tiles, and all ridge ornaments have been lost. The central bay features a five-purlin, corridor-less beam frame, while the side bays use a five-purlin, central-column beam structure. Both column-top and intercolumnar brackets are present, consisting of single-curved, single-rising five-tiered bracket sets. The rear eave’s flat purlin and architrave form a “T” shaped structure. Based on analysis of the hall’s beam frame structure, bracket sets, and architectural style, it is judged to be a mid-to-late Yuan Dynasty building that retains certain authentic features, providing important research value.
