During the Ming Dynasty, it was called the Hall of Rites, and in the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed the Hall of the Exalted Sage. The exact founding date of the Zhaoqu Confucius Temple is unknown. It underwent multiple renovations in the 12th year of the Hongzhi reign of the Ming Dynasty (1499), the 29th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1690), the 10th year of the Yongzheng reign (1732), the 57th year of the Qianlong reign (1792), and the 2nd year of the Xianfeng reign (1852). Only the main hall remains today, featuring architectural elements from the Yuan Dynasty. The hall faces south and is built on a raised platform about 1 meter high. It is surrounded by corridors, with a width of five bays (a total of 16.23 meters) and a depth of five bays (a total of 16.15 meters). This double-eaved hip-and-gable roof structure is covered with gray clay tubular tiles, adorned with yellow and green glazed ridge decorations, and trimmed with green glazed tiles. Inside, a well-shaped beam frame and caisson ceiling create a beamless hall design.
