Yumen Town is situated along the “Hundred-Mile Ecological Corridor” ring road of Panzhihua and is also a key stop within the “Gesala” Sunshine Eco-Tourism Circle. It is rich in tourism resources, notable for integrating historical culture with modern human landscapes. The area offers exhibits such as the Neolithic stone coffin burial sites of the Di-Qiang people, along with local legends like “Five Cattle Trapped in a Pond,” “Fishing the Golden Turtle,” and “Rhinoceros Gazing at the Moon.” Following the creation of the Ertan Reservoir, the town’s 25 square kilometers of water area feature scenic islands and lake-and-mountain vistas, making it a perfect getaway for city dwellers looking to relax and unwind.

In 2003, the Hongda Storage and Shipping Company of Hong Kong-based China Wei Group invested in the area and began developing tourism projects on Yumen Island. By the end of 2005, when the first Sichuan Winter Tourism Development Conference was held in Panzhihua, Yumen Island welcomed distinguished guests with its unique South Asian tropical scenery.

Additionally, the planned volcanic sightseeing agricultural attraction at Yumen Town Community Committee is expected to bring an unexpected delight to visitors. Moreover, Yumen Town has also developed its culinary culture as part of its tourism offerings. While preserving the distinctive flavors of Yanbian cuisine, it has incorporated the town’s abundant local fish resources to create a unique food culture. After extensive research and trials, several signature dishes have been introduced to the market, including Douchi-steamed Wuchang Fish, Steamed Wuchang Fish, Stoneflower Seaweed Stewed Fine-Scale Fish, Twice-Cooked Fish Slices, Sturgeon Hot Pot, Grilled Fish, and Drunken Shrimp. These dishes have gained immense popularity among both local and out-of-town visitors.
