The Gaoshan Liushui Tourist Scenic Area is situated 25 kilometers northeast of Lucheng City in Xianquan Town, at the convergence of Lucheng, Licheng, and Pingshun counties, right next to National Highway 309. It is the only bamboo raft drifting site in North China. The area has three docks, starting from Zhao’dian Bridge on National Highway 309 in the north and extending to the ancient Yuangqi Temple in the south — a total length of 11.5 kilometers. With a river drop of 40 meters, abundant water flow, wide channels, beautiful scenery, and pleasant climate, it is a rare find in northern China and is hailed as the “No. 1 Bamboo Rafting Experience in North China.”

Drifting down the river on a bamboo raft, splashed by flying spray and filled with excitement, the ride is thrilling yet safe, offering a refreshing and delightful experience. Along the way, you’ll encounter the Taihang wonder — the Xianquan Waterfall cascading from the sky. As the bamboo raft passes beneath the waterfall's curtain of water, it creates a uniquely charming scene. During the 2006 May Day holiday, new activities were added such as local girls paddling rafts and folk duets, allowing visitors to enjoy the mountain-water scenery while listening to North China folk songs and experiencing the warmth and simplicity of the local youth by the Zhuozhang River.

A large spring water bathing beach is another highlight of the Gaoshan Liushui water recreation offerings. Since its opening, this beach has attracted numerous visitors who can swim freely and joyfully here. With sunshine, sandy shores, and spring-fed waters, it feels like a visit to a seaside resort in southern China. Covering an area of 23,000 square meters, the bathing beach has a water area of 17,000 square meters and a sandy beach of 3,400 square meters, capable of accommodating up to 2,000 swimmers simultaneously. The bathing water comes entirely from unpolluted, natural underground springs rich in minerals, with moderate temperatures and crystal-clear quality, making it one of the healthiest and cleanest swimming spots available.

The Nanliu Spring gushes like boiling water. Leaning over the edge, you’ll feel the refreshing mist invigorate your lungs. Surrounded by lush bamboo and green reeds, if you clap your hands or strike rocks near the spring’s eye, the water will respond to the sound’s intensity, gushing higher or lower accordingly — hence it’s also known as the “sound-controlled spring.”

The Wanzhouhe Hotel, located at Dock No. 2 of the scenic area, is fully equipped. Its forest cottage accommodations are uniquely charming and set in a tranquil environment, able to host over a hundred guests for meals and lodging. The hotel offers farm-style dishes and the local specialty — salmon. Visitors can relax at the hotel while enjoying fresh and delicious food.

Inside the Gaoshan Liushui Scenic Area, the area is shaded by lush trees, blooming with flowers, alive with birdsong, and frequented by mandarin ducks playing together — a true picture of harmonious rural beauty. The area’s planted peach orchards span hundreds of acres as far as the eye can see, with peach blossoms covering the mountains competing in splendor. It is the best choice for viewing peach blossoms in spring and engaging in fruit picking in autumn. Surrounded by clear waters and green hills, along with vibrant floral colors and peaceful little wooden cottages, being here gives you a genuine feeling of returning to nature and enjoying leisurely tranquility.
