The Site of Dong Tianzhi’s Martyrdom is a county-level cultural heritage site in Lucheng District and a classic red tourism destination.

The Site of Dong Tianzhi’s Martyrdom is located on Shiping Ridge west of Wangguozhuang Village, Heshi Township, Lucheng District, Changzhi City, dating back to the Republican era.

Protected area: Extending 50 meters outward in all directions (east, west, south, and north) from the martyrdom memorial stele.

Construction control zone: Extending 100 meters outward from the boundary of the protected area.

Dong Tianzhi (1911–1940), whose given name was Dong Liang and alias was Xusheng, was born on South Street, Old Town, Xingyang City, Henan Province. In 1926 (the 15th year of the Republic of China), while attending junior high school in Xingyang County, he actively participated in propaganda activities amid the rise of the Northern Expedition and revolutionary fervor. In his second year of junior high, he was admitted to the First Provincial Normal School of Henan in Kaifeng. Later, he was expelled from school and placed on the police wanted list for participating in progressive activities. He then went north in 1929 (the 18th year of the Republic of China) and enrolled at Hongda Academy in Beiping.
