Luting Hot Spring

Luting Hot Spring is located in Group 1, Wenquan Village, Gaoyang Town, Wangcang County, 18.2 km from the county center. The hot mineral water extraction area covers 3.26 square kilometers. Luting Hot Spring was discovered in 1972 by geological teams while searching for oil and natural gas. In 1995, it was rated as a "Famous Spring of Sichuan." In 2009, it was identified by Sichuan Province as: "medicinal thermal mineral water containing fluorine and radon with metasilicic acid."

On December 5, 2016, the National Tourism Administration announced that the 2A-level Luting Hot Spring scenic area had been stripped of its rating.

The Hanwang Mountain where the hot spring is located has a long cultural and historical heritage. The Ming Dynasty historian Cao Xuejian wrote in his book *Records of Scenic Spots in Shu* : "The mountain encircles ninety-nine peaks, like swords and spears arrayed in rows. Emperor Gaozu of Han once camped here, leaving behind the Hanwang Stockade." The Republican-era *Revised Gazetteer of Guangyuan County* referred to it as the "famous mountain east of the county," noting: "Hanwang fled the enemy, and with no boat by the river, a deer descended from the mountain, so Hanwang rode it across the river into the hills. Thus the mountain was named Hanwang Mountain and the crossing was called Deer Crossing."

Geographic coordinates of the Luting Hot Spring wellhead: longitude 106°20′02.8″ E, latitude 32°19′51.1″ N, with the wellhead elevation at 733 m. It lies 58 km east of Guangyuan City, 62 km south of Bazhong City, and 180 km north of Hanzhong City, Shaanxi. To its west, the road from Wangcang to Shuanghui Town passes through and connects to the Guangyuan–Leba Railway and the Guangyuan–Dachuan Expressway. Via the Guang–Mian–Cheng Expressway, Chengdu is 360 km away; via the Beijing–Kunming Expressway, Hanzhong is 260 km away; and via the Baoji–Chengdu Railway, Xi’an is 523 km away.
