Bailu Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Cangxi County is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

Bailu Lake is located in Baozhu Village, Baiqiao Town, Cangxi County, 31 km from the county seat. The reservoir was constructed starting in 1973 and completed in 1976. It is a medium-sized water conservancy project mainly for agricultural irrigation, also serving flood control, aquaculture, and tourism. The catchment area above the dam site is 19.3 km², with a total storage capacity of 14.4 million m³. It includes two main canals, left and right, stretching 48.57 km in total, designed to irrigate 25,800 mu (approximately 1,720 hectares) of farmland across four towns: Baiqiao, Chanlin, Dongqing, and Baimiao. Situated along the northern Sichuan tourism loop, the area covers approximately 28 square kilometers. It is the 13th national water conservancy scenic area designated by the state and recognized as one of Sichuan Province’s “Top Ten Most Beautiful Man-Made Lakes.” Here, you’ll find layered peaks, lush pines and cypresses, serene and beautiful landscapes, winding valleys, a healthy aquatic ecosystem, and rich cultural heritage. The classical and elegant farming culture that thrives along the water fully showcases the unique charm of being “secluded, deep, graceful, and marvelous.”

The Bailu Lake National Water Conservancy Scenic Area, currently under development, includes the core resort area of Bailu Lake for health and leisure, the Longmen Dam High-Quality Grain and Oil Base for sightseeing and relaxation, the Shuimo River for water-based recreation, themed farms showcasing folk farming culture, the Baiqiao Dam Modern Agricultural Park, and a charming town offering shopping and leisure activities. The total area spans 17 square kilometers.

In spring, the vast golden rapeseed fields provide the perfect getaway to reconnect with nature and embrace hope. Throughout the year, Bailu Lake offers open recreational fishing, bringing endless fun on the water. The Baiqiao Reservoir project has been developed into a comprehensive water conservancy scenic area focused on sightseeing, leisure vacations, and eco-cultural tourism. Relying on rural tourism and centered around cultural elements such as Du Fu, the Nine Sons and Eight Jinshi Scholars, the Leyan Study, Taoist culture, and Red Army culture—while featuring distinctive water leisure experiences and ecological highlights—the area seamlessly blends natural and cultural landscapes. The reservoir valley features layered peaks, lush pines and cypresses, serene beauty, rugged rocks, and winding valleys. The water conservancy scenic area harmonizes natural landscapes, water conservancy projects, and delicious ecological fish. The scenic zone’s natural beauty, water engineering, and oxygen-rich environment complement each other. Adhering to the philosophy of “respecting the reservoir, rooting in water, and embodying the scenery,” the area integrates local customs, stories, attractions, and nearby sites into a cohesive experience.

Transportation: Bailu Lake is situated in Baiqiao Town, Cangxi County, 30 km from the county seat. Along the way, you’ll pass by tourist attractions such as the Nine Sons and Eight Jinshi Scholars and the Leyan Study. It is 28 km from the Cangxi exit of the Guanglan Expressway, 25 km from the under-construction Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway, and 12 km from the Tingzikou Hydropower Station.
