The Memorial Hall of the Long March Departure Site of the Fourth Red Army is a classic destination on China’s red tourism route.

Covering an area of over 2,000 square meters, the memorial hall is located at Hongjundu (Red Army Ferry), the main crossing point in Cangxi’s Tashanwan, which served as the departure site for the Long March of the Fourth Red Army—one of the three main forces of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. In 2001, Hongjundu was designated as a National Patriotic Education Base by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. In 2005, it was listed among China’s Top 100 Classic Red Tourism Attractions. The construction of the Memorial Hall of the Long March Departure Site of the Fourth Red Army received high attention from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Government, the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Government, the Guangyuan Municipal Party Committee and Government, as well as strong support from departments at all levels. Thanks to the joint efforts of all stakeholders, the memorial hall opened to the public before the Spring Festival in 2007.

Services & Exhibits   The memorial hall consists of five exhibition halls. The themed sections include the Preface Hall, On the Eve of the Long March, Fierce Battles at Jialing River, Marching Off on the Long March, Contributions from the Soviet Area, and Portraits of Generals. Auxiliary facilities include a VIP lounge and a multifunctional hall that can accommodate 100 people, suitable for small meetings and equipped for stereoscopic audiovisual screenings. Currently, over 3,600 precious revolutionary relics from the Red Army period are preserved, with 962 on display across the first and second floors of the memorial hall. Among them, 792 are officially catalogued cultural relics, along with 1,015 stone inscribed slogans—256 of which showcase diverse themes—and 55 commemorative artifacts from the Red Army era. The most notable items include the “Red Army Seal” and the “Money Clothes.”
