Jindongliang Aqueduct
The Jindongliang Aqueduct is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.
The Jindongliang Aqueduct is a major discovery made during the third national cultural relics survey conducted in our county. It is located in Baiguan Village, Lingjiang Town, Cangxi County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, and runs in a north-south direction. Construction of the aqueduct began in January 1975, with over 300 workers on site each day. At that time, the infrastructure team was formed by Chengjiao Township, and Jiang, a stonemason from Wusheng, was responsible for technical guidance. After four years of construction, the project was fully completed and put into use by the end of 1978.
The aqueduct starts in the north at the Yanjiagou Reservoir and extends south to the current Wudang Industrial Park, spanning a total length of approximately 19.5 kilometers. It passes through the former territories of Fugong Township, Huishui Township, Liuhuai Township, and Chengjiao Township. Drawing water directly from the Yanjiagou Reservoir, it irrigates more than 10 villages including Wudang Village, Malin Village, Longtai Village, Baiguan Village, Taiping Village, Chenjiagou Village, Taifeng Village, and Xinjian Village, covering a total of over 18,000 mu of farmland. The aqueduct consists of three parts: tunnel aqueduct, ground aqueduct, and skybridge aqueduct, among which the skybridge aqueduct is the most spectacular. The tunnel aqueduct runs from Taifeng Village in the north, passing through the Taiping Mountain with an altitude of 986 meters, to Taiping Village in the south. The tunnel is over 2,000 meters long, 2.5 meters high, and 2.7 meters wide. The ground aqueduct is constructed on the surface using strip stones of varying lengths but generally uniform width and height, with a channel width of 1.56 meters, channel base width of 0.97 meters, and depth of 0.73 meters. The total length of the ground aqueduct is about 16,500 meters. The skybridge aqueduct is approximately 800 meters long. Locals have named sections of it based on local landmarks such as “Masangping Skybridge,” “Jindongliang Skybridge,” “Miaoliang Skybridge,” “Dalupo Skybridge,” and “Datianbao Skybridge.” These structures use bridge-building principles, with regularly shaped strip stones serving as piers. Between the piers are arched stone skybridges used to transport water across mountains or low-lying areas. The base of the piers is 3 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and up to 8 meters high, though some are as short as 2 meters. The bridge deck is built with strip stones to form the aqueduct channel, which is 1.56 meters wide, 0.97 meters in base width, and 0.73 meters deep. The entire aqueduct system covers an area of approximately 18,915 square meters. This aqueduct is one of the representative structures from the "Learn from Dazhai in Agriculture" period of the last century.
Protected Area: The occupied area extends 3 meters eastward and westward, and 10 meters southward and northward (total length approximately 19,500 meters).
Construction Control Zone: The protected area extends 50 meters eastward and westward, and 100 meters southward and northward.
