In the vast expanse of the park, the thick layer of humus beneath the mountain streams and forests provides an ideal environment for tropical orchids to thrive. Over 70 rare and valuable orchid species grow here, including Ivory Cymbidium, Winter Fairy Orchid, Sword-tongued Orchid, Ink Orchid, Five-fingered Orchid, Dendrobium densiflorum, Shrimp-back Orchid, Coiled Orchid, and Jade-lipped Orchid. At the Yajia Scenic Area, within a high mountain valley at 1,230 meters above sea level, clusters of Jade-lipped Orchids stand with their crescent-shaped leaves that are soft yet resilient, and their upright flower spikes bloom with small red flowers, filling the air with fragrance. The blooming period lasts up to half a year, and the flowers remain vividly red for a long time, displaying graceful postures. The Tang Dynasty poet Tang Yanqian once wrote in his poem “Ode to the Orchid”: “The breeze sways the emerald rings, and the cool dew drips on the jade-like green.”
