A Single Tree Forms a Forest

At a point 15 kilometers along the eastern route of the Bawangling Forestry Bureau highway grows a massive banyan tree over 1,000 years old, about 23 meters in height and with a crown diameter reaching 50 meters. The whole tree is verdant and lush, creating the sight of a mini forest. From its branches grow over 300 hanging aerial roots that reach the ground and take root, becoming "pillar roots." These roots interconnect, supporting branches and leaves, expanding outward to form the spectacular sight of a single tree creating its own shaded forest.
