Qixianling Hot Spring National Forest Park is located 7 kilometers from Baoting County Town. In 1998, it was jointly approved as a national forest park by the State Council and the State Forestry Administration. The park features unique hot springs, peculiar peaks, pastoral scenery, and rich ethnic culture. The hot spring water can reach temperatures of up to 95°C and contains various trace elements. It belongs to the sodium bicarbonate-silicate type, with a daily discharge of over 3,800 liters. It is the largest and hottest discovered hot spring on Hainan Island, offering benefits such as skin purification, beauty enhancement, and health care. The peculiar peaks of Qixianling consist of seven steep granite formations that rise abruptly above the mountain range, appearing elegant and majestic from a distance. Also known as Qizhi Ridge due to its seven finger-like peaks, the area offers excellent opportunities for rock climbing with its rugged cliffs. A 2,300-meter stone plank walkway with 3,770 steps has been built, along with an 850-meter wooden sightseeing trail. At the end of the stone plank trail, there is an approximately 80-meter climbing wall equipped with support cables and a slope of about 75 degrees.

The highest peak of Qixianling stands at an elevation of about 1,126 meters. Reaching the summit allows you to enjoy the experience of “one view, two sights, three gazes, four looks, and five worships,” as well as the endless joy of “travelling with immortals, rejoicing with people, getting drunk with the scenery, and living as long as the mountains.” That is: one view – watch the sunrise; two sights – see the Li and Miao villages; three gazes – look north to Wuzhishan Mountain, east to Diaoluoshan Mountain, and west to Maogongshan Mountain; four looks – gaze upon the South China Sea, forests, clouds, and mist; five worships – between the third and fourth peaks lies a sharp, towering rock facing the fourth peak, resembling a child worshipping the Goddess of Mercy, known as “The Boy Worshipping Guanyin.”

Qixianling Hot Spring National Forest Park is one of the few well-preserved tropical rainforests in Hainan. The park boasts towering ancient trees and intertwined vines. Over 500 species of rare plants and wildlife have been identified. Approximately 700 meters along the stone plank trail, there is a dense cluster of Alsophila spinulosa (tree ferns), with trunks over 9 meters tall. Known as a “living fossil of plants,” Alsophila is a first-class protected ancient plant species in China, dating back to the age of dinosaurs. Walking through the pristine tropical rainforest of Qixianling, you can fully enjoy the flora and fauna, breathe in the high concentration of oxygen and negative ions, which offer health benefits. The scenic area is rich in tourism resources, featuring spectacular landforms, comprehensive hydrological, botanical, and climatic attractions, as well as numerous cultural and historical sites. From Baoting Bus Station to Qixianling Hot Spring Resort Area.

From Haikou:

In Haikou, you can take a direct provincial express bus from the South Bus Station to Baoting Bus Station (operating hours: 09:00–17:30 daily, every 2 hours, approximately a 3-hour journey).

From Sanya:

Take a Hainan Motor Transport bus from Sanya Bus Terminal to Baoting Bus Station (operating hours: 08:00–20:00 daily, every 30 minutes, approximately a 2-hour journey).

Ticket Price: 48 RMB per person. Local residents of Hainan Province can enter for 38 RMB per person with ID. Seniors aged 60–65 can enjoy a half-price ticket of 24 RMB per person with ID, and those over 65 can enter for free with ID.

Hiking Tips:

1. The best hiking season is from November to April each year. It’s best to avoid the rainy season from May to October.

2. Hiking at Qixianling generally involves only the front peak and the second peak. The mountains aren’t very high, and the paths are well-maintained, with most of them being stone stairways. However, the stairways do not lead all the way to the mountaintop, which is very steep. Reaching the summit can be somewhat challenging. The “path” to the top is a section of cliff about several dozen meters long. Though the cliff is steep, two iron cables about half a meter wide have been installed, allowing climbers to scale the cliff face using the cables.
