Xianlong Cave

Situated near Ganlong Miao Village in Maogan Township, Baoting County, at the southern foot of the Wuzhi Mountains, it is currently one of the larger karst caves discovered in Hainan Province, covering an area of 133 hectares and situated at an altitude of 500 to 700 meters. The area enjoys spring-like weather all year round with beautiful scenery. The cave stretches over 400 meters in length, featuring awe-inspiring craftsmanship and unique formations. It is divided into upper and lower levels — the upper level being a dry cave, consisting of six bead-like chambers of varying sizes, including the “Dragon Gate Hall,” “Dragon King’s Palace,” “Triumphal Arch,” “Ascension Palace,” and “Sea-Connecting Corridor.” The largest chamber is over 50 meters long, 30 meters wide, and more than 40 meters high, capable of accommodating over a thousand people. Inside the cave there are mountains, and within the mountains there are caves, creating a mysterious and extraordinary scene. The cave chambers are filled with forest-like stone pillars and colorful stone flowers. Stalagmites, stone pagodas, and stone curtains display a rich array of colors.

Exquisitely shaped stones such as “The Dragon King Seeking Treasures,” “Fairy Descending to Earth,” “Stone Goat Suckling,” and “Ganoderma Gemstone” are so lifelike they surpass man-made carvings. Walking up through the cave chambers, you’ll experience the sensation of entering a new world with each cave. The lower level consists of corridors of varying widths, with gorges, sky bridges, underground rivers, and waterfalls interspersed throughout. Outside the cave, ancient trees tower above, while rare flowers, flowing springs, and cascading waterfalls form an enchanting landscape. There is also a fantastical Fairy Bathing Pool near the cave, about two meters deep, with crystal-clear water where fish appear to float mid-air — truly a marvel.

Currently, roads, bridges, stone stairways, and facilities such as parking lots have been built to the cave, allowing visitors from Hainan to reach the entrance and explore inside.

Maogan Township: Located in the western part of Baoting County, Maogan Township is 37 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Xiangshui to the east, Xinzheng to the southeast, shares a boundary with Sanya City to the southwest, and is backed by Changhao to the north. The township covers an area of 130 square kilometers and is a mountainous highland region with rugged terrain. The mountain ridges forming the western border — including Mazui Ridge, Caigong Ridge, Ganzhe Ridge, Yari Ridge, and Xian’an Ridge — all exceed 1,000 meters in elevation. Those making up the southwestern border — such as Gaijiao Ridge, Hehan Ridge, and Xian’an Ridge — range between 900 to 1,071 meters.
