Juren Waterfall

Juren Waterfall is located near the western part of Juren Village, Huangtong Township, Lingao County, Hainan Province, about 20 kilometers east of the county town. Known in ancient times as "Guyin Waterfall," this area features a large pool and is celebrated for its "Three Pools and Nine Bends of Juren." The waterfall is formed by a sudden drop on flat land, with a drop height of 20 meters, a width of 20 meters, and a spread covering 400 square meters. The surrounding area is dotted with uniquely shaped, oddly formed rocks. Lush trees stand densely behind the falls, resembling a sea of green. These trees, rooted on the rugged rocks, are verdant and leafy, creating shady canopies overhead. Their twisted roots and gnarled trunks reveal a tenacious vitality. The air is filled with the fragrance of flowers and birdsong. At the top of the western edge of Juren Waterfall stand two ancient banyan trees. Beneath them lie several massive, strangely shaped rocks, one of which is inscribed with the four large characters “海南一绝” (Hainan’s Unique Wonder). Above these rocks, the waterfall cascades down like a green dragon spitting pearls, presenting a spectacular sight. Beneath the rocks lies a large dark cave known as the “Guanyin Cave.” The waterfall pours down from the cliff and along the rock face, shrouding the cave entrance in mist and smoke, resembling the Water Curtain Cave from the mythical tales of *Journey to the West*. This has attracted countless visitors who come specifically to admire the view. In 1962, the writer Tian Han visited this site and was left in awe. Lingao County has designated the area as a county-level nature reserve.

Juren Village: The Juren Village Committee is located in the northern part of Huangtong Town, approximately 1 kilometer from the town government seat. The Juren Village Committee administers five natural villages: Xundao Village, Fuli Village, Juren Village, Meiou Village, and Mei Yi Village, with a total of 367 households and a population of 1,659. The residents of Juren Village Committee are all of the Han ethnic group, known for their simple and honest folkways. The area has certain local customs, such as the Dongpo Festival (the 12th day of the second lunar month) in Juren Village and the Memorial Day of Lady Xian in Fuli Village.
