Caiqiao Mangrove Nature Reserve

The Caiqiao Mangrove Nature Reserve covers a total area of 5,250 mu. The widely growing mangroves are trees and shrubs that thrive in the intertidal zones of tropical and subtropical coasts, periodically inundated by seawater. They are named for their sap, which can be used as a red dye, and are rare and endangered plants in the world. The reserve boasts a rich variety of mangrove species, including Lumnitzera racemosa, Bruguiera sexangula, Ceriops tagal, Avicennia marina, Kandelia obovata, and Aegiceras corniculatum. The intertwined roots of various mangrove families support one another and grow along the shoreline, stretching nearly ten li. It serves not only as a natural treasure trove for scientific research but also as a sturdy guardian against typhoons and tsunamis. The reserve is home to 26 species of true mangrove plants, over 40 species of semi-mangrove and mangrove-associated plants, and 159 species of birds. It is an important stopover site for many internationally migratory waterfowl and a crucial link for birds crossing different biogeographic boundaries. Among them, more than 30 species are listed under the China-Australia Migratory Bird Agreement, and over 70 species are included in the China-Japan Migratory Bird Agreement. In 1986, to protect the mangroves here, Lingao County designated the Caiqiao Mangrove Nature Reserve as a county-level nature reserve.

Caiqiao Memory Mangrove Wetland Tourism Resort is a comprehensive holiday destination integrating sightseeing, vacationing, leisure, and tourism. It is built around the mangrove wetland resources and the traditional Li Li Mei culture of Lingao, with nostalgia and retro themes as its main thread, and characterized by pastoral scenery and rural ecology.
