Taiwan-style Cultural Town

Taiwan-style Cultural Town is a key tourism project under Hainan International Tourism Island and a major initiative in Hainan’s 12th Five-Year Plan. The project has received attention and support from the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Government, as well as various sectors in Taiwan. The construction of the town is fully integrated into the iconic branding of Hainan International Tourism Island. It is a key project aimed at boosting Hainan’s cultural soft power and international influence, implementing the strategy of building a strong cultural province and an international tourism island, as well as serving as a model project to drive tourism development along Hainan’s western corridor.

As a supporting resort facility for the Alishan-themed area within Taiwan-style Cultural Town, this section occupies a central location in the town, surrounded by ten themed attractions including the “Cross-Strait Exchange and Development Conference Center,” “Huaxia Mazu Culture Theme Park,” “Fushan Cultural Park,” “Alishan Holiday Hotel,” “Butterfly Water City,” and “Taiwan Indigenous Culture Village.” These attractions collectively showcase the cultural essence of the beautiful island of Taiwan.

The northern side of Taiwan-style Cultural Town borders the planned Mazu Culture Theme Park. The Mazu Park features a 99-meter-tall titanium alloy statue of Mazu and the Mazu Museum as its core highlights. The park employs a variety of artistic forms—including classical architecture, sculpture, painting, and landscape gardening—to recreate the compassionate and serene image of Mazu and her legendary, moving stories. Once completed, the Mazu Culture Theme Park will become the largest Mazu cultural sanctuary in China’s history, establishing Hainan Island as a blessed land of prayer with both the Southern Guanyin and Northern Mazu. Visitors can take in the sacred atmosphere of the Mazu cultural site and enjoy the blessings of peace and safety.
