Li Ancestral Hall of Luoyi Village is a cultural tourism attraction.

Luoyi Village in Laicheng Town, Chengmai County, is located about 6.5 kilometers southwest of Laicheng Town. It is a historic and cultural ancient village that formed in the late Southern Song Dynasty. The village has a total of 699 households and a population of 3,117, all of whom are agricultural households. The population consists of 1,713 males and 1,404 females, and every resident shares the surname “Li”.

Luoyi Village is primarily an agricultural community, with a cultivated land area of 2,562 mu. Since the reform and opening-up, encouraged by the Party’s pro-agriculture policies, local farmers have focused on agricultural production, mainly growing rice, sugarcane, peanuts, cassava, lychees, bananas, and more. The village has improved farmland water conservancy infrastructure, implemented scientific management, and increased grain yield. In recent years, to adapt to market demands, the village has vigorously planted off-season vegetables such as chili peppers and winter melons to boost income, gradually improving the living standards of its residents. In 2011, the total income from the primary industry was 19.46 million yuan, the secondary industry 970,000 yuan, and the tertiary industry 2.07 million yuan. The per capita net income of farmers had reached 7,153 yuan.

Luoyi Village is an ancient settlement rich in historical and cultural heritage. Its most representative historic building is the Li Ancestral Hall of Luoyi Village, initially built in the first year of the Yongzheng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1723), located southeast of the village. With its "Five Mountains Facing Heaven" flush-gable walls, the structure boasts an imposing presence—a style typically found in major ancient temples and monasteries across mainland China, indicating a high status and grandeur rarely seen in ordinary ancestral halls. This reflects the prosperity and talent of the Li clan in Luoyi Village at the time. The first successful imperial examination candidate (Juren) from Chengmai also came from here. Li Duqing, former Party Secretary of South China University of Technology, who led anti-Japanese and liberation efforts in Hainan and represented the province at the founding ceremony of the People’s Republic of China, was born and raised in this village.

Luoyi Village is a well-known historical and cultural ancient village in Hainan Province, as well as a famous longevity village in Chengmai. There are 386 residents aged 60 or above, including 195 between 60–69 years old, 83 between 70–79, 81 between 80–89, 26 between 90–99, and 1 person aged 100 or above.

Li Ancestral Hall

The Li Ancestral Hall is situated southeast of Luoyi Village in Laicheng Town. According to the stone tablet erected within the hall, it was first established in the “first year of the Yongzheng reign (1723)” during the Qing Dynasty.

The Li Ancestral Hall faces south and is laid out in a traditional three-courtyard, quadrangle-style complex. It features a wood-and-stone structure, with beams, wood carvings, stone engravings, and painted decorations that reflect the architectural characteristics of the period. It is considered a cultural relic of ancient volcanic-region architecture in Hainan Province. The entire ancestral hall covers an area of approximately 6,933.8 square meters, with a built-up area of around 1,920 square meters.

In 1919, the former Chengjiang Academy, originally located in Laicheng, was relocated to the Li Family Ancestral Hall in Luoyi. In 1926, it was renamed the Second Higher Primary School of Chengmai.
