Mehe Revolutionary Base

Situated at the junction of Chengmai, Danzhou, and Lingao, and occupying a strategic location, the area not only features rugged terrain that is suitable for both advancing and retreating, but also boasts fertile land, abundant resources, and strong mass support. In January 1941, the Qiongya Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the headquarters of the Qiongya Column relocated westward to the Mehe region to establish a revolutionary base, leading the anti-Japanese salvation struggle across Qiongya. They also founded the Qiongya Anti-Japanese Public School, with Feng Baiju as principal and Shi Dan as vice principal, attracting over a thousand patriotic youths from across Qiongya. Soon after, a Party School and a Military-Political School were established. In addition, facilities such as an armory, cooperatives, primary schools, night schools, hospitals, and an anti-Japanese news publication were set up. At the time, the Mehe Revolutionary Base served as the overall command center for the resistance against Japan across Qiongya.
