Feng Ping and Fu Jie Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Park

The monument stands solemnly. Every year on Tomb-Sweeping Day, primary and secondary schools in Jinjiang Town organize students to pay tribute to the martyrs at the monument and receive revolutionary tradition education.

Feng Ping was from Meide Village, Donglu Town, Wenchang City. He studied at the Sixth Provincial Teachers College of Guangdong, Shanghai Culture University, and Guangzhou University. In 1923, he went to the Moscow Oriental University in the Soviet Union to study military science. In 1924, he joined the Communist Party of China. In 1925, he returned to China and worked at the Guangdong Provincial Peasants Association, participating in the Southern Expedition of the National Revolutionary Army. In 1926, he returned to Qiong (Hainan) with the army, serving as a special delegate of the Peasants Department of the Kuomintang's Central Committee and Chairman of the Qiongya Peasants Association. After the failure of the Great Revolution in 1927, he became a Special Commissioner of the Qiongya Special Committee of the CPC, Commander-in-Chief of the Qiongya Counter-Revolutionary Revolutionary Army, and later Commander-in-Chief of the Qiongya Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army (later called the Red Army), also holding the position of Commander of the Western Front. In May 1928, he was unfortunately wounded and captured during a battle in Chengmai County, and was executed by the Kuomintang in Jinjiang Town on July 4 of the same year. Fu Jie was from Xiatiang Village, Dongjiao Town, Wenchang City. In 1920, together with progressive intellectuals Xu Chengzhang and Feng Ping, he founded the "New Qiongdao Newspaper" in Haikou. In 1925, he was admitted to the third phase of the Whampoa Military Academy. By the end of that year, he joined the Communist Party of China at the academy. In 1927, he participated in the August 1 Nanchang Uprising and the Guangzhou Uprising in December. In February 1928, he returned to Qiongya and served as the Political Director of the Qiongya Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. On May 10 of the same year, he was captured by a unit of the 11th Army, 1st Division of the Kuomintang due to betrayal by a traitor, and was executed in Jinjiang Town, Chengmai County, on July 4.
