Highlights: A thousand-year-old statue of Guanyin (rock carving), Temple of Emperor Yu, Chiang Kai-shek’s Former Office, Shaoyin Cave, and precious cliff inscriptions from the Tang and Song dynasties, such as the "Three Wonders Stele," "Ancient Love Song," and "Orchid and Bamboo Painting." Introduction: Yushan Park is located near Beiji Square and Yushan Bridge in the northern part of Guilin city, Guangxi. It is named after the Yushan Mountain within the park. With its unique and serene caves, beautiful gardens, and spiritual temples, it is considered the birthplace of Guilin’s landscape tourism and the origin of Guilin’s historical culture. The park consists of a north and south section, featuring innovative landscaping that blends tradition with modernity, East with West. It is exquisitely elegant, conveying grandeur in a compact space, and boasts a distinctive style. The North Garden area offers flowing springs, waterfalls, lush green lawns, and colorful flower arrangements, radiating a modern vibe. In the South Garden, the restored and newly built Temple of Emperor Yu stands majestically on its original site; the Five Blessings Pagoda, named after the traditional Chinese saying “Five Blessings Descend Upon the Home,” is resplendent and houses a “Peace Bell” for praying for national peace and prosperity; the “Ninth Heaven,” formed by three marble-carved cloud-patterned arches, creates a poetic atmosphere and gives the feeling of ascending to the heavens; the refined and timeless Jiya Garden offers a fresh and elegant ambiance, and its “Winding Stream for Floating Wine Cups” is particularly delightful; the artificial rockeries in Yiqin Garden are masterfully crafted and incredibly lifelike; other attractions include the Echo Wall, Lovers’ Corner, the Wise One, Wenshao Tower, and Nanxun Pavilion, each adding its own charm, creating a place where beauty abounds and every scene is captivating. Truly, the scenery is within the garden, and the garden lives within the scenery—there is no corner without a view, and no view that isn’t breathtaking. Yushan (Ruins of the Temple of Emperor Shun) Yushan has a long history, numerous cultural sites, and a rich historical legacy. To commemorate Emperor Yu (Emperor Shun), one of the ancestors of Chinese civilization, who visited this area during his southern tour, the Temple of Emperor Yu has been built here since the Qin Dynasty. As the earliest temple in Guilin, it has been regarded through the ages as a blessed site of the city, enjoying flourishing incense offerings throughout history. There are 65 ancient stone tablets preserved on Yushan, among which the most precious are the "Stele of the Temple of Emperor Shun" (also known as the "Three Wonders Stele"), authored by Han Yunqing of the Tang Dynasty, calligraphed by Han Xiushi, and engraved by Li Yangbing, as well as the "Newly Built Stele of the Temple of Emperor Yu in Jingjiang Prefecture" by Zhu Xi, the renowned Neo-Confucian scholar of the Song Dynasty. On the eastern cliffs of Yushan, there is also a more than 1,400-year-old statue of Guanyin carved into the rock, adding a divine touch to the park.
