Longsheng Hot Springs
Longsheng Hot Springs is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Longsheng Hot Springs is one of the best attractions in the Greater Guilin tourism circle. It is located 30 kilometers northeast of Longsheng County, on the edge of Ailing, and serves as the core and soul of the Longsheng Hot Springs National Forest Park.
The road winds beneath the sun-dappled canopy of trees, flanked by lush grass and scattered azalea petals. The hotels and restaurants built against the mountains stand in neat rows. Going further, winding left and right, you eventually arrive at a secluded mountain hollow covered in dense woods, where a scene of billowing clouds and rosy mist unfolds. In the distance, wisps of smoke drift hazily, and blurred buildings are transformed into celestial palaces. It seems as if immortals are burning incense and playing the zither, or perhaps refining elixirs. As you draw nearer, you find several pools brimming with steaming hot springs, shimmering and rippling within surging vapors, calmly exhaling and inhaling amid the misty steam. Faced with this mysterious world...
The hot springs emerge from rock layers 1,200 meters underground, with temperatures ranging between 45°C and 58°C. The water contains over ten types of trace elements beneficial to the human body, such as lithium, strontium, iron, zinc, and copper. Experts from the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Light Industry, and the Ministry of Health have identified the water quality as ultra-low sodium, mineral-rich calcium magnesium bicarbonate-type natural drinking mineral water with high metasilicic acid content. Soaking in these hot springs has excellent therapeutic, curative, and health benefits for cardiovascular diseases, neuralgia, arthritis, diabetes, gout, skin conditions, and gynecological disorders. Regular consumption of the spring water can also help prevent arteriosclerosis, delay vascular aging, and offers anti-cancer and anti-aging effects.
Regular bathing can regulate the cardiovascular system and is highly effective in treating hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, neuritis, arthritis, skin conditions, and endocrine disorders. Locals call it “divine water.”
Floating in the steaming pool while swimming on your back is an incredibly blissful experience. Watch the rising tendrils of vapor drift through the emerald treetops above, transforming into wisps of mountain mist that linger year-round, nourishing the lush greenery reaching up to the mountaintops. Listen to the murmuring spring water harmonizing quietly with the scent of flowers and birdsong—even those who can’t write poetry will feel the stirrings of creativity. And the statue of Yang Guifei stepping out of the bath behind the pool adds an air of classical reverie.
At Longsheng Hot Springs, you can enjoy one of the world’s most wonderful mineral-water baths, but more than that, you get to experience a rare forest bath. Whether it’s the visitors, cars, or hotels, everything is enveloped in the evergreen hues of all seasons. The pure, wine-like air is intoxicating. There are many wonders in Longsheng Hot Springs Park—the bubbling hot spring creek is just the park’s nascent lifeline. Other attractions include Xinzishan Mountain, Qipan Mountain, Yunfei Cave, and Longshe Rock (all newly named sites), where visitors can go hiking or climbing. Across the iron suspension bridge, you might spot pheasants, monkeys, and black bears; beneath the bridge, the Sangjiang River, where rubber rafts drift noisily, is home to rare Chinese giant salamanders playing in the water.
In the cold, windy, and rainy seasons, it remains spring-like and warm here; during the scorching, sweltering heat of summer, this valley remains surprisingly cool and pleasant. At night, you’ll need a light blanket to sleep, and there’s absolutely no nuisance from mosquitoes or gnats. The tranquility, serenity, poetic charm, and allure will make you want to come back again and again.
