Scenery

The scenic area’s landscapes intermingle with the borders of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County in Hunan Province. The riverbanks are hemmed in by steep cliffs and towering peaks, presenting a magical, mystical, serene, and thrillingly beautiful dreamscape.

Yulongtan is a gallery of peculiar rocks—an “animal kingdom” of wondrous and bizarre stones. The cliffs on both sides of the river are carved by the water into beautiful relief patterns resembling ripples, wood grains, and annual rings, almost as if they were the work of aliens. The boulders along the river have been shaped, polished, and sculpted by the water into lifelike figures of dragons, fish, birds, and beasts—raw, elegant, and brimming with primitive charm and mythic allure. Each stone holds a legendary tale, revealing the mysteries of nature and the secrets of the cosmos.

The Golden and Silver Beaches here are another marvel. The Golden Beach features a thick, soft, flat, and clean golden-yellow sand, making it an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. Adjacent to it, the Silver Beach consists entirely of smooth, gleaming white pebbles, the two complementing each other in striking contrast. Rafting: The Yulongtan rafting experience is a cross-provincial, year-round activity. The 18-kilometer rafting route gathers waters from mountain streams and cascading waterfalls, with the river’s crystal-clear, fresh flow offering an invigorating experience. With numerous rapids and swift currents, navigating the waves in a rubber raft is both thrilling and safe—making it one of the best rivers for rafting through subtropical valley rainforests. Along the way, you’ll pass through picturesque farmland: terraced fields spiraling through the hills, tea-oil forests echoing with folk songs, citrus-scented orchards, and the rich cultural flavors of the Dong and Zhuang ethnic groups from both provinces—all adding a touch of gentle folklore to the bold adventure of conquering roaring rapids.

Activities include beach sunbathing, short and long-distance rubber rafting, exploring in bamboo rafts and small wooden boats, venturing into the canyon, bathing in the pristine river, admiring the terraced fields, rural tourism, sampling ethnic cuisine, enjoying green and organic foods, and experiencing the ancient Dong Grand Song, Liu Jia Grand Song, and Zhuang Grand Song performances, as well as viewing the wonders of dinosaur egg fossil rocks. Transportation: Located in the “golden triangle” area bordering Longsheng, Sanjiang, and Tongdao, where National Highway 321 and National Highway 209 intersect. The scenic area is 110 km from Guilin, 28 km from Longsheng County, 25 km from Sanjiang County, and 63 km from Tongdao County, offering very convenient transportation.
