Bunong Miao Village in Weijiang Township is located at the township government seat, nestled at the southern foot of the 80-Li Grand Southern Mountain at the junction of Hunan and Guangxi provinces on the southern slopes of the Yuecheng Mountain Range. It borders Mati Township to the east, Sishui Township and Longsheng Town to the south, Lejiang Township and Pingdeng Township to the west, and Nanshan Town and Wutuan Town of Chengbu County in Hunan Province to the north. The village enjoys convenient transportation and boasts superior ecological and geographical conditions. Bunong Miao Village is 50 kilometers from the county seat. The village has 150 households with a total population of 598, over 90% of whom are ethnic Miao. The village covers a forested area of 1,460.2 mu; 46 households have built biogas digesters, with a biogas penetration rate of 90%. In recent years, the township government has focused on developing Bunong Miao Village as a model site for new rural construction, intensifying efforts to renovate dilapidated houses. The project also emphasized preserving the distinctive Miao residential architecture, improving village roads, water supply, electricity, sanitation, and renovating the facades of dilapidated homes while maintaining the ethnic characteristics. In 2012, over 1.2 million yuan was invested to complete the renovation of dilapidated Miao homes and construct a Miao cultural wall. The main sources of income for the villagers include agriculture, cultivation of three-wood medicinal herbs, vegetables, household livestock breeding, and migrant work. In 2012, the per capita income was 3,538 yuan.

The Miao people here drink oil tea almost with every meal — serving it to guests, enjoying it at home, drinking it during festivals, and sipping it whether during busy or slack farming seasons. Oil tea brings out the flavor of life in this mountainous Miao village, and showcases the unique culture of the ethnic minority.
