It is widely said in Hengxian that Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yunwen, went into hiding here to avoid political turmoil and lived in seclusion for fifteen years, during which he personally planted white hair tea. That’s why Nanshan white hair tea is also known as “Sacred Seed White Hair Tea,” carrying a deep sense of Zen within its reverence. It won the silver medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition twice—once during the Daoguang era and again in the early years of the Republic of China—becoming the first famous tea from Guangxi to go abroad. Savoring this white hair tea is like experiencing centuries of history flowing fragrantly between your lips and teeth. Each flower is a world, each leaf a Bodhi. The legendary life of Emperor Jianwen, encapsulated in a "Zen tea culture" that withdrew from worldly life, is concentrated within these tiny tea leaves.

Hengxian has integrated the Buddhist culture of Nanshan Yingtian Temple with white hair tea culture to create Guangxi’s first tea expo garden. The first phase of the project has been completed and opened to the public—those who are interested can check it out.
