French-style Building

The “French-style Building” is a cultural relic of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and is listed as one of the key protected cultural relics at the autonomous region level. Constructed in 1914, it served as the office of the Qing government’s counter-intelligence sub-office at the “Zhennan Pass” in Pingxiang. The building covers an area of over 200 square meters, has two floors, and was designed by French engineers at the time. The structure is complex, with exquisitely inlaid floral patterns along the walls and elegant bas-reliefs, making it a true masterpiece of art. However, due to its age, the foundation of the building has gradually sunk, resulting in multiple cracks. Especially after years of exposure to wind and rain, the surface has darkened, become stained, and moss has grown in many areas. To rescue this artistic treasure and restore its former glory, the National Cultural Heritage Administration has decided to invest 350,000 yuan for comprehensive restoration. The restoration work is being carried out by the autonomous region’s professional cultural heritage maintenance team. Currently, the restoration is underway intensively. Soon, this beautiful landmark will once again be on display for visitors.
