Friendship Pass, originally built during the Han Dynasty, boasts a history of over 2,000 years. Its name has been changed seven times throughout history. Initially called Yongji Pass, it was renamed Zhennan Pass (literally "Pass to Guard the South") during the Ming Dynasty. In 1953, it became known as Muenan Pass, and in 1965, in order to further develop the traditional friendship and good-neighborly relations between the people of China and Vietnam, the Chinese government renamed it Friendship Pass. The current replica ancient gate tower was rebuilt in 1957, covering an area of 180 square meters and standing 22 meters high. It has four levels, with exhibition halls, meeting rooms, and introductions to China’s Nine Great Passes located on the second to fourth floors. To its left is the Zhen Pass Cannon Platform, and to its right is the group of ancient cannon platforms on Golden Rooster Mountain. Ancient city walls from the Ming Dynasty, which are over 600 years old, lead up to the mountaintop on both sides of the gate tower. Friendship Pass has witnessed the rise and fall of the Chinese nation throughout history. The world-renowned “Victory at Zhennan Pass” and the “Zhennan Pass Uprising” led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen both took place here. With its long history, majestic presence, and unique architectural style,
