Huashan Rock Art Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Huashan Scenic Area is a national key scenic spot and a world-renowned tourist destination. It is located in Ningming and Longzhou, in the southwestern part of Nanning Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The area is famous for its large collection of ancient Zhuang rock paintings, which are spread across more than 2,800 square kilometers. There are 64 major murals, with the highest concentration found in Huashan and Mingjiang.

The scenery of the Huashan Scenic Area is distributed in a continuous, strip-like pattern geographically. The 200-kilometer riverside scenic belt centers around the ancient cliff murals along the Left River; the 500-kilometer highway scenic belt features landscapes weaving through limestone peaks, peak clusters, depressions, and river valleys; and the 100-kilometer southern border scenic belt highlights attractions such as Friendship Pass in Pingxiang and Detian Waterfall in Daxin.

Huashan, called "Balei" in the Zhuang language, translates to "colorful rocky mountain" in Chinese. It is located on the east bank of the Mingjiang River (opposite Yaoda Village), about 15 kilometers southeast of Ningming City in Chongzuo, Guangxi, near Huashan Tun.

Huashan stands at an elevation of 345 meters. The rock paintings span 172 meters in width and are about 50 meters high, consisting of 111 groups with over 1,900 images covering an area of more than 8,800 square meters. These include depictions of humans, horses, dogs, knives, swords, bronze drums, and goat-horned bells. The human figures are all in a half-crouching posture, with primitive and bold designs. The largest figure is up to 3 meters tall, while the smallest is just 30 centimeters.

Experts estimate that the Huashan rock paintings were created approximately 2,500 to 2,800 years ago (during the Spring and Autumn, Warring States, and Western Han periods). The Huashan Rock Art is considered a treasure of the world’s rock art history, a crystallization and artistic gem of the ancient Luoyue culture from thousands of years ago. It is a radiant pearl of Chinese national culture and also an enduring mystery studied by archaeologists worldwide. It has been listed as a national key cultural relic protected by the State Council.

Transportation Overview:

Ningming Huashan Rock Art is 150 kilometers from Nanning and 50 kilometers from Chongzuo City, accessible via the Nanning–Friendship Expressway. Nanning Wuxu Airport offers flights to major cities across China. The Xianggui Railway and National Highway 322 run through Ningming County, making it convenient to reach Huashan by taking a train to Nanning or Ningming first.
