Yin-Yang River

In Nanan Township, Ningming County, there lies a mysterious "Yin-Yang River." It captivates nature lovers with its unique landscape of clear mountains, beautiful waters, and peculiar rocks. Locals, benefiting from their proximity, often visit this river section for spring outings or picnics, immersing themselves in the wonders and breathtaking scenery crafted by nature.

The "Yin-Yang River" is located in Dongzhan Village in the northeastern part of Nanan Township, Ningming County. The river winds its way from south to north through the entire village. Approximately one kilometer north of the village, the riverbed suddenly drops, and the water cascades down steep cliffs, forming a beautiful and spectacular waterfall. Yet, where the waterfall lands, the river abruptly vanishes underground, leaving behind a dry riverbed scattered with massive boulders. The thunderous roar beneath one’s feet reveals that an energetic river flows just below. The brown, house-sized boulders are piled up in various positions—standing, lying, or leaning—stretching out as far as the eye can see. Occasionally, small shrubs sprout between the cracks of these rocks. On both banks, swaying green bamboo and lush trees make it hard to imagine that an intense river flows underneath. This stretch of peculiar, dry riverbed covered in oddly shaped rocks continues for about one kilometer before the water gradually re-emerges from beneath the boulders, restoring the area’s original serene and picturesque beauty.
