Xinjiang County Museum

Xinjiang County Museum is a local comprehensive history museum located within the Longxing Temple of Xinjiang, a nationally protected heritage site. Established in 1950, it was originally named the Xinjiang County Cultural Center (which combined the functions of a cultural center, museum, and library). On June 26, 1984, the three entities were separated and the museum took on its current name. It is located at No. 2 Longxing Square in Xinjiang County, and houses offices such as administration, security, and finance. The museum has 12 staff members on its official payroll and is under the administration of the Xinjiang County Cultural Relics and Tourism Bureau.

The Biluo Stele in Longxing Temple was erected during the third year of the Zongzhang era of the Tang Dynasty by the son of Prince Li Yuanjia of Han to pray for his mother’s blessing. The stele features inscriptions in six different scripts: oracle bone script, large seal script, small seal script, bell and cauldron script, as well as two other ancient forms. It holds significant value for the study of the evolution of ancient Chinese writing and is hailed by philologists as a uniquely styled "Biluo Stele script."

The museum currently holds a collection of 1,482 items/sets, primarily from the Han, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The categories include pottery, porcelain, jade artifacts, bronze ware, and 20 other types. Among them, there is 1 item/set of first-grade relics, 13 items/sets of second-grade relics, 202 items/sets of third-grade relics, and 1,266 items/sets of general relics. The exhibition area spans 166 square meters. The east exhibition hall features a pictorial display of precious cultural relics from Jiangzhou, while the west exhibition hall showcases a “Xinjiang Highlights” exhibit. The museum regularly hosts over ten types of exhibitions, including calligraphy, paper-cutting, dough modeling, and works by notable artists.
