Lingyun YunTai Mountain
About two li south of Lingyun County, adjacent to Wuzhi Mountain, YunTai Mountain features majestic and elegant peaks and stands 50 meters high. Visitors can reach the summit by climbing over 500 stone steps that spiral up from the mountain foot. At the top sits a three-bay Buddhist hall named “YunTai Temple.” The mountain is densely covered with lush trees and shrubs; birds sing overhead, and wildflowers dot the landscape. From in front of the temple, one can gaze into the distance: to the north, the faint outlines of the town can be seen, while the Sishui River meanders in like a jade ribbon, with verdant mountains lining both banks; to the south, there lies an expanse of flat land where fields of crops ripple like waves under golden sunlight; looking east and west, the villages of Xi Hong and Shang Hong nestle against the mountains and face the water, with wisps of cooking smoke and the sounds of chickens and dogs creating a serene rural scene.
Reminder: The main highlights of YunTai Mountain are its mountain views and misty landscapes, and the foggiest season in Lingyun is early spring. Therefore, the best time to visit YunTai for its scenic splendor is early spring.
