Jingxi Wenchang Pavilion

Jingxi Wenchang Pavilion is a cultural tourism attraction.

Wenchang Pavilion is located about 1 kilometer east of Jiuzhou Street. The pavilion stands on a small island in the Equan River. It is an ancient, three-story, four-cornered structure, approximately 15 meters tall with a base area of about 16 square meters. Built during the Ming and Qing dynasties, it stands majestically in the water like a pearl inlaid on a green ribbon, possessing a unique charm. Near the riverbank, a small bridge leads to the interior of the pavilion, allowing visitors to enter and enjoy the scenery. It was also a place where ancient literati played music, composed poetry, wrote calligraphy, and admired the moon by the flowing water. During the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty, Song Qinghe, the prefect of Guishun, inscribed a plaque with the characters: “Prosperity Rises in the Southern Region.” Before the liberation, due to years of neglect, the ancient pavilion fell into disrepair and the plaque was damaged. Over time, Wenchang Pavilion suffered from wind and rain erosion, and by the 1970s, it had become severely dilapidated. In recent years, the county government has allocated funds multiple times for its restoration. With its upturned eaves and carved floral patterns of phoenixes on the walls, the ancient pavilion has regained its former glory, adding new beauty to the Jiuzhou Scenic Area.
