San Ya Mountain in Jingxi

The San Ya Mountain Scenic Area is located 3 kilometers west of Jingxi County. It is a karst mountainous region formed from carbonate rocks, featuring unique natural landscapes, abundant and ever-changing karst caves, filled with mysterious wonders and colorful scenery. The entire scenic area spans nearly a thousand acres. The majestic San Ya Mountain Range stretches for miles from the north in a winding fashion, then sharply turns eastward, resembling a mighty dragon turning its head in awe, gazing proudly over Jingxi County. In front of the mountains, fields and paths crisscross, with the Nantan River flowing quietly to the south. Towering green peaks rise all around, presenting a picturesque pastoral scene. Beneath the rugged cliffs and lush hills, numerous mysterious caves such as the Wulong Cave, Qifeng Rock, and Yao Gong’s Mountain-Piercing Cave—ranging from large to small—are hidden. With their unpredictable and winding geological formations, they form a unique karst world characteristic of the region. Over twenty smaller rocky peaks, like stars surrounding the moon, are scattered across the eastern foothills of the mountain range. Below the mountains, ancient banyan trees stand tall, and dense woods flourish. Centuries-old temples are tucked away amidst bamboo groves and rock forests, creating an exquisitely beautiful natural landscape. Major attractions in the scenic area include: Wulong Cave, Qifeng Rock, Yao Gong’s Mountain-Piercing Cave, Dade Guanyin Temple, Peach Blossom Spring Holiday Camp, Ethnic Culture Building, Folk Song Stage, Natural Wildlife Park, as well as San Dong Pavilion, the breathtaking Wang Ting, Qifeng Pavilion, the stone path to the main peak of San Ya Mountain, and the Sunrise Pavilion. There are also many undeveloped pristine areas waiting to be explored.

Wulong Cave has 21 main halls and hundreds of scenic spots. The most breathtaking features are known as the “Three Treasures,” “Four Sounds,” and “Four Wonders.” The Three Treasures are: the Mountain-Guarding Gemstone, the Lingzhi Mushroom, and the Dragon Palace Sacred Water. The Four Sounds are: the Millennium Stone Harp, the Sea-Shocking Pillar, the Dragon Palace Divine Gong, and the Dragon Spring Chant. The Four Wonders are: the Manifestation of Guan Yu, the Lake Breeze Bringing Chill, the God of Longevity Seated in the Hall, and the Ancient Vines on the Cliff.
