The Bazhai Terraces are located in Bazhai Village, Renzhuang Township, approximately 8 kilometers from the township government seat, 35 kilometers from the county seat, and 8 kilometers from the China-Vietnam border. Spanning over 1,000 acres across several kilometers, the terraces offer varied vistas from different angles.

The Bazhai Terraces are like a simple and bashful Zhuang girl, tucked away in the mountains unknown to the public, and in the misty morning fog, they resemble an ethereal goddess, exuding endless charm and grace.

As more and more photography enthusiasts flock here in admiration, amid gasps of wonder and cheers, the ancient and enchanting Bazhai gradually sheds its mysterious veil. With its graceful curves, bold backdrops, and tones echoing the ruggedness of the distant mountains, it freezes into a series of three-dimensional pastoral paintings.

Gazing at the Bazhai Terraces from afar, from the foot to the top of the slope, step by step, each terrace resembles a celestial ladder to the sky. Fields connect with the sky, and the sky with the fields; the high slopes reach into the clouds, still and rhythmic—this is a magnificent and splendid natural masterpiece.

Up close, the terraces are small and delicate, with fertile soil. Lush green tea gardens, swaying rice plants, and babbling streams create a serene scene. Here, listen to frog croaks and birdsongs, breathe in the fragrance of rice flowers and tea leaves—what pure delight that brings.

During the farming season, approaching the Bazhai Terraces, you’ll see strong men urging water buffalo with their whips, plowing muddy fields. Mud churns and splashes as the terraces come alive with bustling activity. Figures bent over the fields, the sounds of oxen echoing one after another—the industrious people of Bazhai embody the age-old rice cultivation culture through seasonal expressions. Village women carrying loads and hoes shuttle along the field ridges, their hurried steps knocking on spring’s door. Their graceful figures are reflected in the paddy waters and silhouetted against the sky. Soft, melodious mountain songs drift like distant clouds, forming harmonious and beautiful scenes of spring plowing with the terraces. In the distance, villages are dotted among lush trees, with wisps of cooking smoke and occasional crowing of roosters or barking of dogs…

In autumn, approaching the Bazhai Terraces is like stepping into a world of vibrant colors. At first, the paddies are emerald green—lush and glossy. Before long, under the sun’s rays, they begin to show tender yellow. After a few autumn breezes, they slowly turn golden orange, with heavy rice ears drooping low, bright yellow and glistening gold. The terraced fields spread across the hills in a breathtaking golden sea.

The people of Bazhai are hardworking and wise. For centuries, generation after generation has lived and thrived here, using their rough hands to create these magnificent terraces. They are also the most skillful painters, adorning the terraces with the most beautiful lines, the most vivid colors, and bountiful harvests in every season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Today, the county is working to develop the Bazhai Terraces into an ecological tourism destination, with some infrastructure construction already underway. Last year, Bazhai Village secured three projects worth over ten million yuan: a new initiative under Guangxi's “Hundreds, Thousands, and Tens of Thousands” poverty alleviation industrialization demonstration project, a 5,000-mu slope-to-terrace conversion project, and the introduction of a leading fruit enterprise to guide local residents in growing organic fruit—the American variety W. Murcott (also known as Liangli Xiangju, or Beautiful Fragrant Tangerine). It is believed that in the near future, the Bazhai Terraces—where human life, wisdom, and nature’s ecology blend perfectly—will be unveiled to the world.
