Longbang Port

Longbang Port is located in Paigan Village, Longbang Town, in the southern part of Jingxi City, 42 kilometers from the city center, 221 kilometers from Baise City, and 302 kilometers from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi. The port is 5 kilometers from Chaling County in Vietnam, 38 kilometers from Cao Bang City in Vietnam, and 320 kilometers from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. This port is an important land border crossing in the southwestern frontier of Guangxi, as well as the most significant among the three border ports in Baise City. Longbang Port has a long history, having been established in 1896. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Longbang Port Committee and Longbang Border Workstation were set up in 1954, along with the establishment of Longbang Customs, bringing the port under regular management. Currently, the port houses permanent inspection and quarantine agencies including customs, border inspection, and health inspection. On August 20, 1996, Longbang Port was officially reopened. Due to its favorable transportation conditions and relatively advantageous geographical location, border trade has developed rapidly, as has port infrastructure. Since 1996, the port has seen about 150,000 cross-border travelers annually, with peak cargo throughput reaching 400,000 tons. Nearly 100 types of goods are imported and exported, generating additional local tax revenue of approximately 2 million yuan per year. Especially after the reopening of Longbang Port, border trade centered around this port in Jingxi County has seen its trade volume exceed 100 million yuan for six consecutive years. In 2001, the county’s total border trade volume reached 180 million yuan, becoming a new growth point for Jingxi’s economy. To enhance Longbang Port's leading role in promoting border trade in surrounding regions, on January 10, 2003, it was approved by the State Council to be upgraded to a national Class I port and is currently under construction.
