Fengjing Park

Yizhou Fengjing Park is located on Fengjing Road in the city center, both the road and the park are named after the famous Northern Song Dynasty figure Feng Jing.

Feng Jing was born in 1021 in Fengjia Bay, Yizhou (now Zhuangyuan Bay, Qingyuan Town, Yizhou City), and during the provincial, metropolitan, and palace examinations held between August 1048 and 1049, he successively ranked first in all three levels — earning the titles of Provincial Champion, Metropolitan Champion, and Palace Champion. He was thus honored as the “Triple First-Rank Scholar of Feng.” After achieving the "Triple First-Rank," Feng Jing served in both the capital and various local regions across four reigns — those of Emperors Renzong, Yingzong, Shenzong, and Zhezong of the Song Dynasty — eventually rising to the high-ranking post of Privy Councilor, commonly referred to as the “Councilor Prime.” Not only did he hold prominent official positions and manage complex state affairs, he also demonstrated valor on military campaigns in the west and defense in the north, distinguishing himself in politics and military achievements and becoming a renowned statesman of the Northern Song Dynasty. Moreover, he was diligent in writing and reflection, actively engaged in authorship, producing the Collected Works of Qianshan and thirty volumes of memorials and essays, as well as a large body of poetry and prose. Unfortunately, much of this work has been lost over time. To preserve and promote outstanding historical and cultural heritage, Yizhou City built Fengjing Park in 1996, and then invested over 5 million yuan in 2014 for its renovation and upgrading. On July 28, 2015, a statue of Feng Jing was unveiled in the park.

Although not large in size, Fengjing Park is meticulously planned and fully equipped. The park features lush green lawns, shady trees, birdsong and floral fragrance, and fresh air. With winding corridors leading to serene spots, pavilions tucked away among the greenery, a meandering stream, and oddly shaped rocks, the environment is elegant and makes it an ideal place for leisure and recreation.

To the west of the park lies the Yizhou Museum and the China Village Self-Governance Exhibition Center, which can be visited free of charge.

The park borders the Longjiang River to the south and has a dock. Visitors can purchase tickets at the ticketing center of the Liu Sanjie Hometown Scenic Area located outside the park gate, then take a boat from the dock for a tour. The typical itinerary is: Ticketing Center of the Scenic Area – Board a boat at Fengjing Park’s cruise dock – Cruise along the Longjiang River – Interactive folk singing on the boat – Dui ge (antiphonal singing) at Liuheliu Village Gate – Visit Liu Sanjie’s Former Residence – Watch the live cultural performance showcasing Liu Sanjie’s folklore – Join the folk song fair at Liu Sanjie’s Song Square – Exit the village by boat – Cruise along the Xiajian River in front of Liu Sanjie’s former home – Disembark at the Zhuanggula Cruise Dock – Return to Fengjing Park by vehicle.
