The Cliff Inscriptions at Huixian Mountain are located on Huixian Mountain in the northern part of our city. The rock face features sixty stone tablets from various dynasties, involving notable historical figures such as Xu Jiabin, Yue Hesheng, Zhang Ziming, and Shi Shaonan from the Song Dynasty; Zhang Xuan, Peng Ju, Hu Zhi, Kong Ru, Liu Liangyan, Cai Wen, and Guo Zilu from the Ming Dynasty; and Yang Biao, Zhao Shen, Shi Dakai, among others. Among them, the “Poetic Response Stele” by Shi Dakai, the King of the Yi (or Tianguo) Heavenly Kingdom, is the only surviving stone carving of Tianguo poetry in the country; the Song Dynasty’s “Inscription of the Names of Five Hundred Arhats” is the earliest existing stele listing the names of the Five Hundred Arhats in China; there are also artworks such as the “Manifestation and Response Illustration” by the Bodhisattva Shan Hui of Shuanglin Temple in Wuzhou, and Xu Jiabin’s “Service Report Stele.” The Huixian Mountain Cliff Inscriptions hold significant value for the study of the history and culture of Yizhou as well as the history of the Tianguo movement.

In May 2013, the Cliff Inscriptions at Huixian Mountain were listed as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
