Nama Huayuan Village

Nama Huayuan Village is located in Nama Town, Dongyang City, central Zhejiang Province, 16 kilometers from downtown Dongyang. The original Huayuan Village had 183 households and 496 residents, covering an area of 0.99 square kilometers. With a history of over 600 years, Huayuan Village was once a well-known poor mountain village before liberation. In 1978, the annual per capita income in Huayuan Village was only 87 yuan. Under the leadership of Secretary Shao Qinxian, and through more than twenty years of hard work, Huayuan Village has become a model village for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects—prosperous in economy, wealthy for villagers, civilized in rural customs, clean in village appearance, democratic in management, and ecologically sound. The "Huayuan Path" advocated by the village—“enriching farmers through industry, strengthening the village through industry, achieving common prosperity, and attaining overall moderate prosperity”—has drawn attention from all sectors of society. A member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and former Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province personally visited Huayuan Village and inscribed the words “A Model of Rural Modernization in Zhejiang.” The village has been successively awarded titles such as “National Advanced Unit in Creating Spiritual Civilization,” “National Model Village,” “National Civilized Village,” “Top Ten Famous Villages in China,” “National Greening Model Unit,” “China’s Top Ten Well-off Villages,” “Provincial Model Village for Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects,” and “First Zhejiang Charming New Countryside.” It has also been designated as a national training base for village officials and a first-class A-level study and inspection site for national new rural construction.
