Memorial Hall of Shao Piaoping

The Memorial Hall of Shao Piaoping is a patriotic education base.

Shao Piaoping was a pioneer of China's proletarian journalism. After the 1911 Revolution, he began editing the *Hanmin Daily* in Hangzhou, and later founded the *Beijing Daily* in Beijing. With his sharp intellect and incisive writing, he promoted Marxism-Leninism and fought against the warlords of the Beiyang government. In 1918, Peking University established a Journalism Research Association, and Shao Piaoping was appointed as an instructor, with students including Mao Zedong. He was one of the initiators of the May Fourth Movement in 1919. In 1925, he joined the Communist Party of China, introduced by Li Dazhao and Luo Zhanglong. On April 26, 1926, he was executed by warlord Zhang Zuolin on charges of "colluding with Soviet Russia and propagating communism." To commemorate this great pioneer of journalism, the scenic area has specially set up the Memorial Hall of Shao Piaoping, featuring six exhibition halls that tell the glorious life story of the martyr Shao Piaoping.
