Xiachengli Weiyu Hall

Xiachengli Weiyu Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

Xiachengli Weiyu Hall is located in Xiachengli Village, Hulv Town, Dongyang City.

Weiyu Hall, completed in the 11th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1746), was built by Cheng Yongqi and is referred to by villagers as the "Hall Facing All Directions." It is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province, meaning “achieving harmony, with heaven and earth in their proper places, all things growing and flourishing, and the nation naturally at peace.” It once had a central pond, 45 courtyards, two screen walls, one riverside pond, and two wells.

Wang Zhongfen wrote in *Oriental Residential Pearl: Residential Architecture of Dongyang, Zhejiang*: “Weiyu Hall in Xiachengli, Hulv Town, is the largest, most room-filled, courtyard-rich, deeply symbolic, rigorously laid out, and fully functional rural family courtyard in China. With a total of 209 rooms, it looks like a city from the outside, a government hall from within, but is in fact a private residence—an extremely rare find in the country.”

On January 7, 2011, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Units.

Xiachengli Village: Xiachengli Village is located in the northeast of Dongyang City, under the jurisdiction of Hulv Town, and serves as the town government's seat. It is 33 kilometers from the urban area of Dongyang, adjacent to Shengzhou and Zhuji cities. As the eastern gateway of Dongyang, Provincial Highway 37 and the Yongjin Expressway (with an interchange) run through the village, making it one of the main routes from Dongyang to Shaoxing, Ningbo, and Hangzhou. The village is about 500 meters long from east to west and 1,500 meters from north to south. It currently has a population of over 3,000 and covers 967 mu of land. Villagers are mainly engaged in agriculture, sewing parts manufacturing and sales, with some involved in construction and commerce.
