Derun Hall in Xiashitang is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

Derun Hall in Xiashitang is located in Liushi Subdistrict, Dongyang City, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

The grand Qing-era civilian residence — “Thousand Pillars on the Ground” Derun Hall. This building embodies the ancestors' ideals in choosing dwelling sites and their wisdom in construction. Xiashitang is a tiny village with only a few dozen households, but it is quite famous in the Liushi area and its vicinity due to Derun Hall — the “Thousand Pillars on the Ground.” Derun Hall faces south and has three sections from front to back, each with left and right wing courtyards. The entire complex consists of 75 rooms, six large courtyards, and eight small courtyards. With its considerable size and over 500 pillars, it is dubbed “Thousand Pillars on the Ground.” In the past, the entire village lived within Derun Hall, hence the local Dongyang saying “one retreat house equals one village hall” (meaning “one building equals a whole village”).

On January 13, 2017, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province listed it as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Liushi Subdistrict: Located in the northeast of Dongyang City, Liushi Subdistrict sits at the confluence of the Dongyang River, Baixi River, and Lüxi River. It is 10 kilometers from the city’s administrative center. The expanded Provincial Highway 22 (Dongzhu Line) and the Yongjin Expressway run east–west through the subdistrict, making it a vibrant and spiritually rich land teeming with talent. Originally a town, Liushi was among the first 18 central towns designated by Jinhua City. In early October 2003, the former Liushi Town was abolished and restructured as Liushi Subdistrict, with no change in jurisdiction. Its total area is 61.43 square kilometers.
