Stone Carvings at the Xujiacun Tomb

Located in Xujiacun near Yanziji Town, Qixia District, Nanjing (currently within the premises of the First Chemical Plant of Jinling Petrochemical Company). The tomb owner is unknown. Only one spirit way stone pillar remains; the round capital and small bixie on top have been lost. The pillar body is decorated with 24 melon-ridged patterns, and at the upper end there is a rectangular capital measuring 1.10 meters in width and 0.80 meters in height, with inscriptions that have peeled off and no longer remain. Below the capital is a band of twisted rope patterns and a band of intertwined dragon motifs. The base is round on top and square below, featuring two coiled dragons on the upper part and a square pedestal at the bottom. The decorative patterns on all four sides of the pedestal have completely disappeared. Based on the style of the stone carvings, they are believed to be from the Southern Dynasties period. The First Chemical Plant of Jinling Petrochemical Company funded the relocation of the carvings above ground level in April 1978 due to factory expansion.
