An'guo Lake National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

An’guo Town is located in the northwest of Pei County, Jiangsu Province. It is the hometown where Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty, grew up, as well as the birthplace and upbringing place of the three eminent chancellors of the early Han Dynasty—Wang Ling, Guan Ying, and Zhou Bo. The town is famed as the “Land of One Emperor and Three Chancellors, Five Miles of Three Feudal Lords.” Within its territory lies the Zhangshuanglou Coal Mine. Due to years of mining, over 15,000 acres of land have subsided, the surrounding environment has continued to deteriorate, and local residents have faced great inconvenience in their production and daily lives. In recent years, both the mining company and local authorities have established a vision of shared development and joint governance, focusing on ecological restoration of the subsided mining land and intensive land use. Projects such as An'guo Wetland, photovoltaic power generation, and land reclamation have been successively initiated.

The An’guo Wetland project was approved as a provincial-level wetland by the Provincial Forestry Department in May 2012. Built on subsided mining land and integrated with the tailwater diversion project of the South-to-North Water Diversion, the project was planned and designed by Beijing Yuanlangchao Company. With a planned construction area of 10 square kilometers and a total investment of 500 million yuan, it is the largest ecological project in the county.

The project emphasizes the theme of “Beautiful An’guo, Ecological Homeland,” creating an ecological wetland through five dimensions: water purification, wetland landscape, ecological restoration, environmental protection, and the culture of the Han Dynasty. The project area is divided into six functional zones: a natural ecological zone composed of the Ten-Mile Reed Marsh, Hundred-Fruit Garden Island, Thousand-Mu Lotus Pond, and Ten-Thousand-Bird Habitat Area; a surface flow purification zone, a buffer isolation zone, a wetland education zone, a leisure and entertainment zone, and a management and service zone.
