Sishui Pavilion Park

Sishui Pavilion was a relic from the time when Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty, "worked as a minor official." The Qianlong edition of the Pei County Annals states, "Emperor Gaozu of Han served as the head of Sishui Pavilion, which is this very pavilion." The Commentary on the Water Classic records: "On the eastern bank to the south of the county seat, there is Sishui Pavilion." The Subterranean Records mention, "The Sishui Pavilion in Pei County houses a stele of Emperor Gaozu, with an inscription composed by Ban Gu." It was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was once again destroyed by floods. In 1983, the Pei County People’s Government restored Sishui Pavilion, erecting a stele within it. The inscription still uses the 「Sishui Pavilion Stele Inscription」 written by Ban Gu of the Han Dynasty: "The glorious Han Dynasty originated in Pei and Feng..." The Sishui Pavilion Stele documents Liu Bang’s early life experiences in Pei County before he launched his uprising, attracting numerous historians and scholars of the Han Dynasty from around the world.
