Xinyi Museum

Xinyi Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Established in 1986, Xinyi Museum is a local comprehensive museum. To further promote the long-standing local history and culture, the Xinyi Municipal Government selected a site to build a new museum in 1997, which was completed and opened to the public on July 1, 2001. The museum covers an area of ten acres and is located between Yingbin Avenue and Shubin Park. The main building has a construction area of 3,500 square meters, featuring a partial four-story structure. Its appearance is simple and solemn, with a unique and majestic Han-style architectural design that reflects the profound and enduring cultural characteristics of the region. The courtyard is adorned with fragrant flowers, lush trees, small bridges over clear ponds, and green lawns, creating a fresh and pleasant environment. Strolling through it, you will be immersed in the influence of historical culture and the cultivation of noble sentiments.

Located in northern Jiangsu, Xinyi enjoys superior natural geographical conditions and a long history. As early as 10,000 years ago, humans had already settled and thrived at the northern foot of Ma'ling Mountain. During the Neolithic Age, the ancestors had begun leading a settled life based primarily on farming, fishing, and hunting. The Xiaoxuzhuang Site in the southern Ma'ling Mountain Range and the famous Huating Ancient Cultural Site exhibit cultural features from both the north and south, reflecting cultural exchanges and interactions among the ancestors as early as five to six thousand years ago. The Xiaoxuzhuang Site has unearthed early residential structures and workshop sites, including evidence of human sacrifice used in construction. The large tombs at the Huating Site commonly feature human remains as sacrifices, indicating the emergence of class differentiation at that time. These significant cultural phenomena provide important physical materials for studying the origins of civilization and the dawn of slavery, holding great significance. The phenomenon of human sacrifice and the exchange of material culture between the north and south discovered at the Huating Site have drawn widespread attention from experts and scholars both domestically and internationally, making the Huating Site renowned worldwide. The numerous exquisite cultural relics unearthed from the Huating Site and Xiaoxuzhuang Site form a unique artistic highlight in the exhibition halls of Xinyi Museum.
