With an area of approximately 375 square kilometers, Luoma Lake is one of China’s seven largest freshwater lakes. The portion within Xinyi covers about 300,000 mu of water area. The water quality consistently meets the national Surface Water Class II standard. Luoma Lake originated in the Tang Dynasty, was named during the Song Dynasty, and took shape during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It truly reached large-scale development after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

While endowing Luoma Lake with the conditions to form, nature also generously bestowed it with abundant resources. Lush waters and rich grasslands are a defining feature and scenic highlight of the lake. Every spring, summer, and autumn, green shade covers the blue water, while white reeds accompany red lotuses, creating a vibrant and picturesque scene. The lake boasts a rich variety of aquatic products, including over 60 species of fish. The “Three Delicacies of Luoma Lake” — represented by whitebait, green shrimp, and crab — along with the “Six Famous Actresses,” are all considered lake treasures.

Wetlands and mudflats are unique ecological resources of Luoma Lake, playing a significant role in regulating climate and degrading pollution. When you cruise on the lake, you’ll be enchanted by the mesmerizing interplay of waves, birds, and grass. Numerous lake islands, scattered like pearls on a jade plate, exude natural simplicity and pristine wild charm, resembling a heavenly paradise or a dreamlike fairyland. The poetic scenery — where “boats play on the water, water splashes around the boats, autumn waters blend with the boundless blue sky, and people float within a painted vessel” — is like a landscape painting where humans and nature are perfectly united.
