Liushan Lake Scenic Area, a national AAA-level tourist attraction, is located in Liushan Village, Shiji Township, southeastern Sihong County, about 10 kilometers from the county seat. The scenic area covers an area of 500 acres and mainly includes a Buddhist culture zone, a geological park zone, a Chinese chess culture zone, an adventure training zone, a fruit orchard zone, a children’s play zone, and an eco-culinary zone. The area is uniquely charming for its magical natural scenery such as underground mountains and lakes, as well as rich cultural resources including ancient Han tombs dating back thousands of years, mysterious stone coffins, and Xingyun Temple. The scenic area integrates multiple functions such as cultural tourism, sightseeing and leisure, agritainment, and adventure training. Historically, Liushan Mountain stood 100 meters high, with towering boulders and lush trees on the summit, while the plains below stretched for miles with rippling green fields. Due to the abundant high-quality stone mined from the mountain over centuries, deep underground excavation created an underground lake spanning tens of thousands of square meters, with depths reaching dozens of meters. The lake water is crystal clear and sweet, with no ripples. Towering cliffs surround the lake, sheer and steep, with jagged rocks and oddly shaped stones. The dark red stone walls contrast beautifully with the setting sun, creating a unique charm. Egrets and seagulls fly above the lake, fish swim just beneath the surface, and the blue sky, white clouds, red cliffs, and green pines are reflected in the pristine lake water, forming a breathtaking scene. The pristine wilderness, gentle breeze, wheat seedlings, and open fields also bring peace and joy, making visitors linger and forget to leave. The “steep cliffs, beautiful mountain, deep lake, and clear water” of the underground mountain and lake are truly a marvel, and the unique landscape attracts many visitors who come specifically to see it.
