The Statue of General Peng Xuefeng is a classic red tourism attraction and a patriotic education base.

General Peng Xuefeng was not only a key founder of the Yu-Wan-Su and Huaibei Anti-Japanese Democratic Base Areas, but also the main founder of Huaibei Middle School. In June 1941, under his advocacy, the Huaibei Su-Wan Border Region Government decided to establish a school in the Su-Wan Border Region modeled after the Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, aiming to train urgently needed military and political cadres for the New Fourth Army and the base areas. In July 1941, the Su-Wan Border Region Council officially named the new school “Huaibei Public Huaibei Middle School of the Su-Wan Border Region.” Over the four years of the War of Resistance, Huaibei Middle School trained more than two thousand well-rounded mid- to high-level cadres for the revolution. During this time, General Xuefeng frequently paid attention to the development of Huaibei Middle School, often visiting the school to inspect work and deliver situation reports. The statue of General Peng Xuefeng is carved from white marble, and the front of the statue’s base bears a golden inscription by a former member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense—General: “General Peng Xuefeng.”

Peng Xuefeng (1907–1944), originally named Peng Xiudao, with the childhood name Xinglong, also used the aliases Wangmin and Peng Xuefeng, was from Zhenping, Henan. He was a senior commander and military strategist of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and the New Fourth Army.

Peng Xuefeng began reading and practicing calligraphy with his grandfather at the age of four. As he grew older, he attended both the village private school and the county granary and Chayuan Higher Primary School, graduating from primary school in 1921. At the age of 14, he traveled alone to Tianjin to join his uncle who was teaching there, and was admitted to Tianjin Nankai Middle School.
